Game Development Competition

Game development competitions will be posted occasionally to help increase game submissions while rewarding the best of show. We will continually strive to make good submission categories while entertaining open guidelines that don't stifle creativity. Prizes will increase with this site's popularity and number of submissions as well as gamers playing submitted games. The judges will play the games throughout the submission period and will also be open to reading critiques in the forums. If you submit a game, you may also help your case by explaining your game in our forums in case your idea is outside the realm of our typical gameplay. We will try to keep our horizons broad, but it helps when the author is willing to explain certain details.

Current Competition

Game Type: Most Innovative

The minimum prize payout for the current competition is currently: $50

We want to see your most innovative idea for a game. The criteria for judging will be based on the innovation of the game idea while keeping the game fun, challenging, and have replay value. If you have a very innovative idea that has no replay value, we may not be too impressed. If you have a somewhat innovative game that is very entertaining and has mass replay value, you may easily be in the top 5, but we're looking for that game that is impressively innovative and still maintains the fun with replay. (replay value is the desire of the gamer to play the game over and over for unknown reasons such as dynamic levels, unfound treasures, increasing difficulty, sub-games or goals, attempt at complete mastery, etc., etc.)

Judges: Justin Rich & Evan Cummings

Deadline: TBA

How to Submit:
To submit your game for the current competition, you must use the game upload tool. While uploading a game, you will see a section regarding the competition if there are any current competitions ongoing. If you want to enter a game that you've already submitted to the site for public play, you must use the game update feature to update your game with your most current XAP (even if it is unchanged) and check the box to participate in the current competition while updating. Your game should pertain to the subject matter that the current competition is requesting. Those games that are not obvious as to why they pertain to the subject must have included a description why or they will not be considered for prizes. In your description, you must explicity state why or how to achieve the part of your game that does pertain. We will then make a decision based on our play-through following your instruction. Failure of the judges to identify the subject in the play-through will result in the game not being considered for prizes.
